Welcome to AIBB
The Australian Institute of Business Brokers (AIBB) is a peak industry group
which was formed in 1989 to represent the special and unique interests of business brokers.
AIBB has been consulted by and
made representations to both state and federal governments.
AIBB’s involvement in the Federal Parliamentary Inquiry in
Canberra into fair trading gave it significant prominence and as a result has thrust it into a position of prominence in issues such as
- the creation of unconscionable conduct in trade practices legislation,
- the drawing down of unconscionable conduct legislation
into the retail leases act of New South Wales,
- the review of the Property Stock and Business Agents Act of New South Wales,
- the current
review of the Retail Leases Act,
- the creation of national standards for competency for business brokers etc.
AIBB is now endeavouring to engage the New South Wales State Government to adopt a new open and transparent disclosure
statement into the current contract of sale for businesses. The utilization of this document will have an instant effect in reducing the failure rate
of small businesses in New South Wales.
Small to medium enterprises (SME’s) sold through members of the Australian Institute of Business Brokers
over a period of three years have a failure rate of less than two percent. This is a fact of which AIBB is extremely proud,
particularly when compared with government published failure rates in small business.
Business brokerage is perhaps the most demanding of all
disciplines in the real estate sector. It arguably requires the greatest levels of skill and in this regard AIBB is keen to ensure
facilities and providers offer specialized training to ensure best practice outcomes.
AIBB is determined to ensure that the
education procedures and best practice disciplines are made available to all its members. These ideals have proven to be of benefit to both the
participants within the industry and the consumer at large.
AIBB is a member and currently holds one board position in the
Property Industry Council of New South Wales (PIC).
AIBB has its own code of ethics and disciplinary procedures to ensure high
standards.
AIBB is an Member of the International Business Brokers Association in Chicargo.
