Member Training
The AIBB has developed an 'in house' professional Business Brokers training course for its Membership. The Certified Practising Business Broker (CPBB) course is designed to give graduates the core skill set and qualification required to operate as a professional Business Broker in Australia.
Candidates who complete and graduate the course will be provided with credentials, including recognition of their training by use of the Certified Practising Business Broker (CPBB) post numerals.
Clients can have confidence that CPBB graduates have had specific industry training and can provide a premium service which will address their objectives.
The CPBB qualification is required as the benchmark for AIBB members to participate in further (higher) levels of Industry training.
AIBB Certfied Practising Business Brokers Course (CPBB)
Who Should Attend This Course?
Every practising Business Broker in Australia is encouraged to participate in this course.
Experienced Business Brokers should participate to share the benefit of their experience with the new industry entrants, and (of course) less experienced Business Brokers have much to gain from attending industry specific training programs. All candidates stand to learn something, and ultimately the profession will benefit from the participation of all Business Brokers working in this dynamic industry sector.
This course is only available to fully paid AIBB Members.
ASSESSMENT
At the completion of each module candidates must complete an online assessment to ensure that they can demonstrate competency in each topic. The assessment is a multiple choice questionnaire. Candidates must obtain at least 80% correct answers to pass each module and must pass all subjects to be able to receive accreditation.
ACCREDITATION
On completion of all twelve modules (comprising the whole course) and all assessments to the required standard, candidates will receive accreditation from the AIBB. This accreditation will include a Certificate and recognition of successful completion as a Certified Practicing Business Broker (CPBB) on the Institutes website.
Once the CPBB qualification has been attained CPBB graduates will be entitled to participate in more advanced training programs to be introduced in coming years.
Accreditation will be formally presented by recognition of attainment at the Institute's annual National Convention.
Continuing Prefessional Development (CPD)
There may be CPD points offered in some States. Graduates should ask thgeir State Chapter Executive Comittee for details.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The Institute has deliberately not offered any RPL's for our training programs for three reasons;
* We need experienced brokers to participate in the classroom discussion and activities
* We don't know what level of competence exists amongst members, and we want to set a base level.
* RPL can be subjective, and we want to eliminate any subjective processes.
Whilst the CPBB course is a basic program, it would be devaluing the content and the ambit of the program to allow RPL to prevail. The Institute Executive have determined that future courses (which will be offered at a higher level of academic and practice experience) will not be offered to members who do not have the CPBB accreditation. We see the CPBB accreditation as the BASIS from which we intend to grow and enhance Business Brokers skills and knowledge.
ONLINE DELIVERY
The Training & Professional Development Committee is comprised of members from Victoria, NSW, SA and Queensland. All Committee Members identified the need to provide access to rural and regional members and we have therefore created a plan for online delivery.
Online training is available to AIBB members who reside more than 100 kilometres from the training location in their state Capital City. This is 'synchronous' training. This training can only be accessed at the same time as the courses are being delivered in 'real time' in each capital city and follows the same format and content delivery.
WHEN IS THE COURSE BEING RUN?
Commencing in March, the course is offered annually in a face-to-face setting, over a six month period. The course will be delivered in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane every third Thursday of each month.
Each month two modules will be delivered. Each session will commence at 5.30pm and will finish at 9.00pm. This timing has been selected to minimise disruption to business and productivity.
